Mossy Society is a Tio'tia:ke artist/activist collective focused on the intersection of clowning, contemporary dance, theatre, technology, and socially engaged art practices.
We create interdisciplinary shows, videos, workshops, events, and sustainable art initiatives that engage the community and build bridges between knowledge holders, students, grassroots organizations, educational institutions, artists, and vulnerable communities.
Mossy Society is a merging of artists, teachers, philosophers, researchers, and students. As a collective, we create costumes, props and sets out of recycled materials whenever possible, and actively seek Indigenous and cultural minority involvement.
Our main priorities at this time include: offering nature space for artmaking to Indigenous artists, creating interdisciplinary residencies and events, and pushing for a housing first model that centres the un/derhoused Indigenous community in Tio'tia:ke/Montreal and integrates their artistry into our scene wholeheartedly; turning to these artists as pivotal voices in reparative action and mutual aid.
